全球矚目的中國60周年國慶慶典隆重登場，10年來首次展現新銳武器的大閱兵吸引了海內外無數民眾觀看。
中國國家主席胡錦濤在檢閱三軍後致詞中強調，中國將堅持「和平統一、一國兩制」的方針發展，然而，60周年的大閱兵在部份西方觀察家眼裡，彷彿是一場最大武器展，中國的｢和平｣發展方向，仍受外界質疑。
據大陸媒體報導，中國大閱兵並不是要向國際媒體表演或宣揚強大武力，此次閱兵主要是向中國人民表態｢中國很強大，你們很安全｣。
此外，部份海外專家學者表示，觀看中國60年來的轉變，中國軍事快速興起，美國應當要注意觀察，而中國經濟地位的提升，人民幣朝向國際化的發展，仍有待利弊評估，但專家學者也認為，中國在民生、公共衛生方面，仍有許多改進的空間。
