In the recent days, there is a question constantly on my mind that is the effectiveness about the Christian spiritual healing? From time to time, I do come across those who claim they are blessed with such an awesome power & have the ability to heal many illnesses. In addition, all their publications literally emphasize strongly on people who are cured through their prayer healing.

One thing bothers me that all their so called “successful cases” are introduced in brief, non-specific manner. For example, if they say they have help to cure the 長短腳, they only tell you people are magically cured without giving your any detail information. Let me see what important detail they have leave out 1) do they accurately measure the length of legs before & after their healing process and document in their publications along with patient’s names & photos. 2) Do people also go through some other treatments in conjunction? 3) Do they do any follow up on patients after the initial healing treatment?

Just imagine, if they don’t dare to provide this simple information for this less complicated illness, will you trust them to possess the ability to more severe illness?

Truth should be told. These key questions are never addressed or provided in their publications and they try to convince people they have the power to cure. Furthermore, they even proclaim they have the cure for more severe chronically illnesses, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, cancers. The list can be infinitely long but the result is sadly fruitless.

Maybe you are wondering how come I sound so cynical about this spiritual healing and my response is this: most of these healing are lack of solid proof but just dependent on blind faith. Don’t get me wrong! I do believe there are some spiritual healers who can cure people but just not that many.

The reason I decide to write this article is because I see so many Chinese Christians fall into these traps and give their hard earned money to these phony religious healers. Most of times, they proclaim themselves as prophets(i.e. 愛修園)and I am wondering how come their names are not written in Bible, the book they hold to their hearts.It seems to me that they name themselves as prophets all of sudden without heaven’s appointment. Don’t forget, it is said that prophets are words of heaven in bible and they are the messengers of God. It should be sacred instead of limitless like these people said. In doing so, they betray their own faiths.

Likewise, there are some pastors down the road who deny their own cultural heritages and lie to their own church people. For example, I have heard the local pastor Peter(恩惠堂) said that the Chinese dragon is the symbol of serpent/snake, so we should never say ourselves as the descents of dragon(oddly enough, I am very proud of my dragon heritage); similarly, he once said it is evil to practice tai chi because it originated from Taoist. He even once said we are the descents of Jews, which is already proven incorrect by history. These mindless and irrational examples are often given in his weekly sermons and he calls himself a Chinese pastor. Last year, the church he led contributed only sorry $80 CDN to the 512汶川 earthquake victims. Although he raised $780 CDN for 88 earthquake victims this year but so far I haven’t seen the donation receipt.

The whole situation is so dire and I am totally fed up with it and that is why I decide to call them out and let you be aware of these types of behaviors. If you want to try the spiritual healing, find the good one. If you want to attend to the church, go to where your own cultural heritage won’t be a burden of your faith. After all, without our forefathers, we won’t even be here, so we should be respectful for what we inherit from not trash them in the garbage chute. 

So, next time when these people approach you for donation, you should just call” liar, liar, pants on fire.” and walk away with your chin up high!
